Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information Paisley & District Scouts holds about you, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it. It sits alongside the wider privacy and data protection policy of The Scout Association and the Scouts Scotland privacy policy, which also apply to us.

Who we are

Paisley & District Scouts is a Scout District of The Scout Association (Scottish Charity No. SC003034). For the information we collect through this website we are the data controller. Contact us at info@paisleyanddistrict.org.uk.

What we collect

• Enquiries to join or volunteer — your name and contact details, your postcode, the young person's name and date of birth where relevant, the section or group you're interested in, and anything you tell us in the message box.
• Course and event bookings — your name and contact details, your Scout group and role, and any dietary or access needs you give us so we can run the course safely.
• Newsletter — your name and email address, if you ask to be added.
• Website use — the site sets one essential cookie to keep forms working. We do not currently run advertising or profiling cookies.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• Responding to your enquiry and running local Scouting — our legitimate interests as a youth organisation, and, once someone joins, the contract of membership.
• Sending the newsletter — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Keeping people safe — our legal obligations and the safeguarding requirements of The Scout Association.

Who we share it with

We share your details only with the people who need them: the volunteer leaders of the group or section you've asked about; The Scout Association and Scouts Scotland where it relates to membership, training or a safeguarding matter; and the organisations that host the site and send email on our behalf. We never sell your information or pass it on for anyone else's marketing.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that don't lead to membership — up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Members — for the duration of membership and afterwards in line with The Scout Association's retention rules. Because of our safeguarding duties, some records relating to any adult or young person who has been a member are kept permanently, and we cannot delete these on request.
• Course bookings — kept while needed for training records, then removed.
• Newsletter — until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or move it elsewhere. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Some rights are limited where we have a legal duty to keep a record. To make a request, email info@paisleyanddistrict.org.uk.

Complaints
